What just happened?

I feel like I've been living a double life.  There are the two competing personalities.  I thought of this was on the toilet talking to my Dad... or at least I was imaging having an honest conversation with him.

But then It occurred to me, (I really need to back up) maybe we all live this way.  Maybe we all have not two but the multiple personalities that come from wherever the hell they come from.  I think its probably that since literally we are made up of other things (our parents who where created by their parents, maybe spirits abound that latch on as the scientologist say, a bit of everything and anything in some way) we have all these personalities from competing sources.  In our journey through life, we successfully compress the characteristics of these distinct and overlapping personalities into one presence if we can achieve it.

So maybe I'm ok... but I'm pretty sure I'm just fucked up.

  1. whoa. deep shit man.

you what else freaks me out? dreams.

like have you ever had a dream where someone you know was mad at you? i've had my share. and i was always freaked out because it became hard to differentiate between dreams and reality.. so sometimes i felt myself truly thinking that that person really was mad at me.

i dunno, i think we take the fact that we have vivid hallucinations on a regular basis too lightly.

    also, i need a totem.

  5. I think your multiple personas are the images created by being around the people you've been around, and being in the world you've been in.

Have you ever noticed yourself using other people's mannerisms after spending time with them?

  7. We all get impressed upon by so many people.. So I think it's fair to say we are a total of different personalities.

  10. to be honest, i think most people are a wild mix up of foreign influences.. (beginning with parenting and so on). the question is: does a personality (an "own" one) really exists? or is everything just a big remix?

  11. Hold that thought, you were talking with your dad while you were on the toilet? Like, on the phone? Either way... While it's true we're made up of many influences, maybe it's the fact because you're sitting on the john while talking to someone else. That double personality feeling? Maybe it's you feeling, "Wow, let's end this conversation soon, so I can do whatever I want in peace" deep inside. Well, unless you're normally use to socializing to people while you're on the toilet, then I don't know. (And I mean people off the computer/texting, we've been all guilty of that.) Don't fret, you're probably not as fucked up as you think you are. :3

  12. Thats thoughtful of you to think, but in reality, since we were babies, we were already in a sense, deceptive and manipulative. You may not remember, but when you wanted something from your mom, you might pretend to cry for it, to seek her attention.

Complex emotional analysis, I believe can be rooted out and mended with self-meditation and reflection, or you could see a shrink and pay a tonne of money.

^ Yeah, your probably not that fucked up yet, I mean, there are a lot of things that can happen to an individual in their lifetime, you have probably not even faced (and overcome) half of it yet.

  13. To clarify, I was having a hallucinatory conversation. He was not there or on the phone with me.

  14. It's an interesting theory. We have different skill sets and different parts of our personalities that only come out around certain people. Me for instance, I have two completely different sets of friends. In one, I'm the fall guy, the punchline to jokes, but knowledgeable on music/movies/games. In the other, I still have that same knowledge, but I'm treated with more respect but there are more people in this group so they have a few people who are the funny guys instead. Both are me, but two different sides of me. It's weird man.
